Originally from South Africa and now living in Silicon Valley, Vinny Lingham is a serial entrepreneur who is one of the most successful tech executives ever to emerge from Africa. The founder and CEO of three companies (Yola, Clicks2Customers, and Gyft), he currently leads Gyft, a mobile gift-card company founded in 2012 and backed by Google Ventures and Ashton Kutcher. Gyft was acquired by First Data in 2014.
Also an angel investor, Vinny still has close ties to his homeland, where he is one of the stars of Dragons’ Den, South Africa’s version of Shark Tank. He has received international acclaim for his work in creating the Silicon Cape Initiative, an NGO whose goal is to develop South Africa’s Western Cape into a high-tech hub.
CJ MacDonald is a business development leader with over 10 years of experience in launching and transforming early-stage startups. He specializes in bringing innovative products to market, attracting large clients, and generating rapid sales growth.
Before co-founding Gyft in 2012, CJ led sales and business development initiatives at Luminate, an image applications platform acquired by Yahoo!, and Liveops, the global leader in cloud contact center and customer service. CJ is a graduate of Wesleyan University.
Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer Mark Levitt has over 15 years of experience in startups and early-stage companies that focus on mobile, SaaS (software as a service), and games. He has held a number of technology and business positions, typically as a founder or early investor.
George Bowen leads business development at Gyft after four years at Clear Channel Media & Entertainment (now iHeart Media, Inc.). He has over seven years of experience in business development and operations at early-stage startups.
Before Clear Channel, George co-founded and was the chief operating officer of Calmerica, Inc. He is a graduate of Cal State University.
